Holiday Jumpsuits... But Make It Fashion!

The holiday season looks little (ok, a LOT) different this year thanks to the global pandemic we’ve all experienced in 2020. With most of us celebrating New Year’s Eve at home you might not feel as motivated to dress up for those virtual Zoom parties this year — and that’s okay. Just making it to the end (almost) of the chaos that’s been 2020 is something to feel GREAT about. Am I right?!!!! But if you’re looking to wear something fun to this season’s virtual parties, or you just want to get dressed up to watch Sleepless in Seattle on your couch for the the 256th time like I am — how about trading in those holiday dresses for a jumpsuit?

I’m a big fan of the jumpsuit. It’s one of my favorite ‘go-to’ things any time of year, as I’m sure will become clear with future jumpsuit styling posts down the road. But the holidays are a great time to rock a jumpsuit. They can be just as sparkly, chic, and sophisticated as holiday dresses—not to mention a lot more comfortable and easier to move around in if you find one that’s easy to get in and out of. Some of them are so comfortable they’ll put those sweatsuits and joggers to shame. It’s true. Have I mentioned I’m a big fan of jumpsuits?

A friend gave me this jumpsuit and I am in love with the evergreen color. I’m also a fan of the fact it’s long enough for my torso and legs. As much as I love a good jumpsuit, it’s not always easy for me to find one that works with my 5’11” frame. This one is fantastic and believe it or not, really comfortable. I’m not sure where this jumpsuit came from (there’s not tag inside), but I found similar ones here and here. If you love the color but would prefer to have your arms covered up take a look at this, this, and this.

I styled this look with a vintage belt, python pumps, bangles, and dangle earrings I already had in my closet, but there are so many other ways to style this piece — throw on a blazer or a fun cardigan; wear flats instead of heels (or no shoes at all when you are balancing on the railing on top of a building); ditch the belt for a statement necklace. Boom! Instant holiday outfit!

The beauty of this season’s jumpsuit selection is that it’s vast, varied, and not at all holiday-exclusive. So if traditional greens and reds aren’t calling to you check out this classic black puffy-sleeve jumpsuit, or this sparkly disco diva one, or this gorgeous retro glam style | similar vintage belts here and here | and similar dangle earrings here, here, and here. Your home — or your rooftop — can be your runway. If you feel better in sweatpants, go for it! But if you want to get in the holiday spirit you can’t go wrong with a nice jumpsuit. Who cares if you’re alone. Selfies are forever.

What do you think about jumpsuits? How do you like to style them? Are you going to be dressing up for New Year’s Eve this year? Let me know in the comments below, or over on FACEBOOK or TWITTER, and keep going to shop more of my picks below.
