It’s always great to see a movie on the big screen, but if the steep ticket prices keep you away from going as often as you’d like, you’re in luck! Sunday, August 27 is the second annual National Cinema Day, and to celebrate participating theaters around the country are discounting all movies, all formats, all showtimes all day to just $4.

National Cinema Day, hosted by the non-profit, Cinema Foundation, is designed to “celebrate the power of movies to bring us all together”. According to the National Association of Theater Owners last year’s inaugural event resulted in the highest-attended movie theater day of 2022. If you’ve been waiting to catch some of this year’s big box-office hits like Barbie, Oppenheimer, and Super Mario Bros. now’s you're chance!

Among the theaters participating in National Cinema Day are major chains like AMC, Regal Cinemas, Dolby Cinemas, Landmark Theaters and more, but other theaters are also involved. Some chains even have deals on concessions. AMC is offering a small-popcorn-and-drink combo for $5; at Regal, the same combo is only $4. You can get a drink at Angelika for $4, and Cinemark is giving every guest a dollar off any popcorn, soda, or candy.

Keep going for a trailer promoting the 2nd annual National Cinema Day. To check for participating theaters near you on Sunday head to NationalCinemaDay.org, your local theater’s website, or  Fandango.
