The Her Universe Fashion Show Is Returning To San Diego Comic-Con 2023!

For almost a decade, the Her Universe Fashion Show has been one of the most highly-anticipated events of San Diego Comic-Con. Each year up and coming designers showcase amazing one-of-a-kind geek couture creations on the runway, all for the chance to design a special collection for Her Universe. The 9th annual show is celebrating 100 years of Disney magic, and this year’s show is shaping up to be bigger than ever!
The show gets underway on Thursday, July 20 at 6 p.m. PT in the Harbor Ballroom of the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotal. Once again the show will be hosted by Her Universe founder, Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka Tano, Star Wars). Eckstein will be joined this year by co-host MIchael James Scott (The Genie in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway)

In addition to all the surprises and special givaways for the audience throughout the show, Eckstein will wear another one-of-a-kind, couture design by Andrew MacLaine. this year’s design is described as one that will “infuse technology and storytelling in an unexpected way”. Attendees can also expect some unforgettable perfomaces from actor and recording artist, Michael James Scott.

“I’m so proud that The Her Universe Fashion Show has become one of the most anticipated events at San Diego Comic-Con and fans have no idea what we have in store for them this year!” says Her Universe Founder Ashley Eckstein. “This year’s show will be a love letter to Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and more – but also a love letter to the fans! The audience will help choose one of the winners of this year’s competition, as well as an expert panel of judges that includes the 2022 Her Universe Fashion Show winning designers Cindy Guillermo and Michael Burson, SVP Hot Topic Merchandising, Robin Motts, as well as the voice of Disney Mickey Mouse and Disney Artist, Bret Iwan.
The show is co-sponsored again by Hot Topic. The retailer is teaming up with Disney to transform the Her Universe Fashion Show lobby into a whimsical fan experience in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Disney’s Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Fans will have the opportunity to embark on a winding path through the Cemetery, take photos, spin Oogie Boogie’s prize wheel, and more!
Check-in begins at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 20 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel Harbor Ballroom, and doors open at 4:15 p.m., with the show beginning promptly at 6 p.m.. The 9th annual Her Universe Fashion Show is free for San Diego Comic-Con attendees and all ages are welcome!
