A Cocktail Dress Made Out Of More Than 2,000 Pennies

If you’ve been saving your pennies and are looking for a way to use them here’s some inspiration from artist, Shay Rose (Crescent Shay). The 22-year-old has already cultivated a large social media following by giving fans a closer look at her creative design projects. Now, she’s taken more than 2,000 pennies and transformed them into a glittering cocktail dress — complete with cross-back straps and a fringe hem.

Shay modeled the statement dress on her Instagram account. From a distance it looks like a shimmering chainmail style flapper dress. When you look up close you can get a better idea of all the detail that went into creating this stunning piece. Shay collected 2,652 pennies, cleaned them all, drilled holes in them — and that’s all before she was able to start sewing them together into a dress.

Talk about upcycling!

You can stay up-to-date with Shay’s creative pojects by following her on Instagram. Keep going for a video that breaks down the process involved in making the dress.
