William Shatner Is Boldly Self-Isolating, And Tweeting STAR TREK Style 'Captain's Logs'

Remember how William Shatner said a few weeks ago his Captain Kirk days were over? The 89-year-old actor may be done playing Captain James T. Kirk on the big and small screens, but apparently that doesn’t mean he’s done with having some fun with Kirk on social media.
Shatner, like so many others around the world, is self-isolating during the coronavirus pandemic. But he’s been giving Star Trek fans a treat on Twitter with captain’s log-style updates for his 2.5 million followers. Make sure you read them with the appropriate Shatner pauses.
“Captain’s Log: Stardate 1 of self-imposed isolation. After having arrived at Planet Home, I was warmly greeted by Emissaries Espresso and Macchiato. I look forward to my planned respite from my normal duties. Kirk out," Shatner wrote in the first "log" from Wednesday. In case you’re wondering, Espresso and Macchiato are his dogs
In a later "supplemental" entry to his captain's record that same day, Shatner thanked fans who bought tickets to see him during an international tour that ended early because of the virus.
"While reflecting upon my experiences of the past week, I do want to send my love, thanks, and respect to those in Europe who came out to see me. For those canceled appearances I will work towards seeing if I can get back to those venues at some point," he wrote.
Espresso and Macchiato were once again the subjects of his next two “captain’s logs” from Thursday and today.
"Captain’s Log: Stardate 2 of self imposed isolation," he tweeted. "Emissaries Macchiato and Espresso have been exploring a new territory called Underbed bestowing upon me tributes of missing socks and other items in an attempt to get my attention and adoration."
“Captain’s Log: Stardate 3 of self imposed isolation. Emissaries Macchiato & Espresso have been banished to backyard penal colony for chewing away mission leather bag. Had to venture to #officecolony to retrieve items for the month long celebration called #lockdownLA More later.”
I hope Macchiato and Espresso haven’t been banished Tantalus penal colony. We’ll have to beam over to Shatner’s Twitter feed tomorrow for the next report.
Shatner joins other stars using their social media platforms to entertain audiences while everyone is social distancing. Others include Josh Gad, Arnold Schwarzenneger, John Legend, and Max Brooks, just to name a few.
