HBO Max Drops Lynda Carter's WONDER WOMAN Series

We’re just days away from Wonder Woman 1984 hitting theaters and HBO Max. But if you’re looking for something to help you pre-game before the premiere, why not relive the adventure’s of Diana Prince, 1970’s style. The streaming service announced it’s adding all 60 episodes of the iconic 1970’s TV series starring Lynda Carter to it’s library and, I for one, am beyond excited about that!

If you aren’t familiar with the show, it ran on ABC for three seasons from 1975-1979 and also featured actor Lyle Waggoner as Steve Trevor. The first season was originally titled, The New, Original Wonder Woman, while subsequent seasons were called, The New Adventures of Wonder Woman. For the DVD and VHS release, the show was released simply as Wonder Woman.

Carter, who would later land the role of U.S. president on the CW’s Supergirl, was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2018. The actress has been a supporter of the new big-screen era of Wonder Woman and said she tried for a cameo in the first movie but "couldn't make it work" with scheduling.

Wonder Woman 1984 is a follow-up to DC’s 2017 hit Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, along with Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal. The movie will be available for 31 days from its theatrical release on HBO Max in the U.S., included at no additional cost to subscribers.

I’ve loved Gal Gadot’s take on the character, but for me, Lynda Carter will always be my Wonder Woman. I was obsessed with this series back in the day. My sisters and i used to try to act out episodes of the show and create our own adventures (of course always fighting over who got to play Diana Prince). It’s exciting the series is available again to a new generations of fans to discover why for some of us, Lynda Carter will always be Diana Prince.
